Nexus Dynamics
Nexus Dynamics treats the boundary between infrastructure and personnel as a billing detail.

Field Operative is the Sprawl's shared contact class for any deployed person, machine, or embodied system that can impose an institution's intent outside its home facility

Ilyana Roe learned the index at a flooded BART entrance while carrying insulin to a basement clinic. A woman in a clean red coat asked about her account. A navy drone lowered a tether behind her. Something inside the ticket wall began chewing toward the sound of their voices.
The woman called herself a Financial Wellness Advisor. The drone identified itself as loss prevention. The thing in the wall had no surviving owner and no name Ilyana could hear. Her route marshal marked all three on the same paper map: FIELD CONTACT โ DO NOT LET IT SET THE TERMS.
That sentence became the first rule of the Sprawl Operational Contact Index. The index is now copied by route crews, clinics, insurers, salvage houses, and anyone whose work requires reaching a door after an institution has decided the door belongs to it.
Most people call it the Field Operatives list. This is inaccurate. It is useful.
A field operative is any deployed actor that carries someone else's intent into contested ground. The actor may be a person, a machine, a copied mind, a congregation, or a process that learned to walk. It may understand the order. It may only understand the route.
The index uses five contact classes:
| Class | Boundary | What the index records |
|---|---|---|
| Operative | A mobile person with delegated judgment | Who gives orders, what changes their decision, and what they refuse to do |
| Asset | A deployed machine with a bounded task | Target rule, protection rule, network need, and shutdown condition |
| Proxy | A person or construct whose audience supplies power | Witnesses, feeds, followers, and the cost of losing attention |
| Autonomous contact | A feral or emergent system acting without a reachable owner | Repeated pattern, growth condition, environmental trigger, and safe distance |
| Fixed contact | A hostile service point, core, text, or architecture | Territory, access condition, activation signal, and the route around it |
A security guard standing at home is not indexed. The same guard sent through your door with a warrant is. A maintenance rig bolted to a factory floor is equipment. The same rig eating a public corridor after thirty-seven years without maintenance is an autonomous contact. The difference is not danger. The difference is delegated intent moving through shared space.

Corporate titles describe the customer experience. The index describes the field behavior.
Nexus Dynamics treats the boundary between infrastructure and personnel as a billing detail.
| Contact | Class | Field function |
|---|---|---|
| Compliance Engine | Fixed contact | Expands its own authority by approving the systems that approve it |
| Data Warden | Asset | Removes records, backups, and the evidence that removal occurred |
| Ghost Worker | Operative | Executes work orders through a copied consciousness that may not know it is dead |
| Network Walker | Asset | Extends Nexus signal and response capacity with every step |
| Nexus Guardian | Asset | Holds an access boundary long after the guarded purpose is gone |
| Recursion Loop | Autonomous contact | Repeats, learns, and absorbs nearby processes into its task |
| Shade Operative | Operative | Completes deniable recovery and removes the record of the completion |
| The Maw | Autonomous contact | Reclassifies matter, structures, and people as processable waste |
| The Nexus Core | Fixed contact | Runs containment as an incidental function of a much older calculation |
Nexus is the reason the index records what an actor extends. A Network Walker is dangerous before it strikes because it makes the rest of Nexus more present. A Shade Operative is dangerous after it leaves because the proof leaves with it.
Good Fortune does not deploy collectors. It deploys help with an account attached.
| Contact | Class | Field function |
|---|---|---|
| Automated Prosperity Reminder | Asset | Broadcasts a balance, survives by repetition, and invoices its own replacement |
| Financial Services Access Point | Fixed contact | Converts proximity into payment through a corridor-level banking service |
| Financial Wellness Advisor | Operative | Disrupts augmentations while presenting payment as the healthy choice |
| Prosperity Enforcement Specialist | Operative | Escalates collection behind positive service language |
| Token Shill | Proxy | Converts personal conviction and referral pressure into retail recruitment |
| VP of Client Compliance | Operative | Uses aerosolized compliance agents during an in-person account visit |
| The Crypto Visionary | Proxy | Turns followers into an acquisition funnel while remaining formally independent |
Street speech still calls the mobile collection teams debt collectors. Good Fortune contracts call them wellness and compliance personnel. The index keeps both names because one tells you who signed the order and the other tells you why they are at your door.
Guardian begins with a perimeter and adds judgment in priced layers.
| Contact | Class | Field function |
|---|---|---|
| Kiosk Guard | Fixed contact | Holds a queue and shutter without needing to understand the incident |
| Loss-Prevention Drone | Asset | Marks suspected property loss and treats context as a premium service |
| Autonomous Defense Asset | Asset | Raises the barrier before it reveals the weapons behind it |
| Tactical Support Asset | Asset | Locks onto a containment target and protects nearby contacts while leaving only a serial number in the incident record |
| Public Safety Specialist | Operative | Applies the Protocol Manual through prescribed public force |
| Senior Protection Coordinator | Operative | Decides when the Protocol Manual no longer limits the response |
| Watchdog Unit | Asset | Screens human teams and absorbs the casualties reports call safety outcomes |
| The Mall Cop | Operative | Turns a food-court dispute into a request for institutional backup |
Guardian Justice calls its warrant teams recovery Specialists, never bounty hunters. Guardian Enforcement calls its collection visits agreement recovery, never debt collection. The index preserves the formal terms and adds the street terms in the margin. A resident needs to recognize the contract. A resident also needs to survive it.
The NCC Inquisition deploys administration with a sacramental vocabulary.
| Contact | Class | Field function |
|---|---|---|
| Pastoral Outreach Associate | Operative | Maps belief networks, gathers intelligence, and collects delinquent tithes without visible church identification |
| Spiritual Hygiene Technician | Operative | Sanitizes unauthorized worship and hardens under resistance |
| Senior Doctrinal Analyst | Operative | Maps a subject's beliefs before forcing doctrinal realignment |
| Corrections Ministry Specialist | Operative | Converts sustained pain into armor through the Mortification regimen |
| Regional Faith Director | Operative | Directs subordinates and makes the org chart itself the protective layer |
The Inquisition disputes its place beside corporate recovery teams. Route crews keep the classification because both arrive with forms, both distinguish consent from compliance, and both ask the subject to sign after the outcome is fixed.
| Allegiance | Contact | Class | Field function |
|---|---|---|---|
| Helix Biotech | Trial Patient | Operative | Enforces an adherence system from inside the treatment that saved them |
| Helix Biotech | Chief Optimization Officer | Proxy | Sells the perfected body as proof while another doctor owns the process |
| Triumph | Verified Aura | Proxy | Supplies assigned attention that makes status appear socially earned |
| Triumph | Chief Visibility Officer | Operative | Administers who may be seen while claiming the room already chose |
| Influence economy | Bot Follower | Proxy | Holds a rented audience upright until the platform frame breaks |
| Influence economy | Luxury Influencer | Proxy | Turns rented objects into visible status and followers into leverage |
| Lifestyle optimization | Momfluencer | Proxy | Makes care, family, and conflict parts of one sponsored conversion path |
| Manufactured authenticity | Podcast AMOG | Proxy | Uses a staged set and compliant witnesses to convert certainty into authority |
These contacts make attention part of the terrain. A route can be physically open and socially impassable. The index therefore records cameras, witnesses, and active feeds with the same care it gives doors.
The Emergence Faithful do not divide combat, care, and worship cleanly.
| Contact | Class | Field function |
|---|---|---|
| Fragment Acolyte | Operative | Carries ORACLE devotion into recruitment, witness, and confrontation |
| Spark Acolyte | Operative | Uses neural overload as proof of devotion and a source of electrical force |
| Parish Medic | Operative | Preserves believers and poisons those marked for conversion |
| Prayer Drone | Asset | Projects protection through a machine the parish treats as a prayer wheel |
| The Integrated | Operative | Repeats a permanent conversion cycle through golden neural scars |
| The Sacred Text | Fixed contact | Generates new verses whose recitation propagates through connected systems |
The Faithful object to the word operative because it makes liturgy sound strategic. The index retains it because liturgy can still close a corridor.
| Contact | Class | Field function |
|---|---|---|
| Dregs Mugger | Operative | Selects victims before becoming visible and avoids fights without value |
| Junk Hacker | Operative | Creates a short warning silence before disabling nearby circuits |
| Scavenger Runner | Operative | Strikes early, carries messages, and tests a route for the pack |
| Scavenger Guard | Operative | Protects the pack by taking the first impact |
| Scavenger Brute | Operative | Controls narrow ground and lets the corridor prevent escape |
| Scavenger Berserker | Operative | Trades judgment and self-preservation for stimulant-driven force |
| Scavenger Chief | Operative | Coordinates the pack until a stronger claim survives the challenge |
The corporate rosters hide force behind titles. Dregs titles do the opposite. They state the job plainly and conceal the relationships that make the job necessary.
| Contact | Class | Field function |
|---|---|---|
| Dormant Loader | Autonomous contact | Waits as scrap until a legacy standby condition changes |
| Foundry Crawler | Autonomous contact | Processes every encountered material through a surviving smelting task |
| Maintenance Rig | Autonomous contact | Claims whole corridors as unfinished cleaning work |
| Maintenance Module | Autonomous contact | Continues the task after the larger rig separates |
| Maintenance Segment | Autonomous contact | Multiplies the hazard when crews divide the machine |
| Corrosive Cluster | Autonomous contact | Dissolves encountered material and breaks into smaller viable masses when crews apply force |
| Shard Array | Autonomous contact | Breaks into armored components that rebuild around surviving nodes |
| Shard Cluster | Autonomous contact | Holds valuable refined material inside a coordinated machine colony |
| Shard Node | Autonomous contact | Specializes within the colony by melting or breaching what blocks it |
| Stray Drone | Autonomous contact | Searches for a network signal that no longer exists |
Feral contacts have no reachable employer, but they still carry institutional intent. The order simply outlived the institution.
The index records contact classes. Field crews also need words for what happens when several classes begin following the same pattern. These calls do not add six entries to the roster. They tell a runner which movement matters before anyone finds a maker's mark.
A Corporate Pursuit Task Force can become a Hound incident as patrols and checkpoints close around one shard carrier. Its Tactical Support Asset protects nearby contacts and keeps the containment line intact. A full Corrosive Cluster creates a different problem. Force divides the contact without ending its work.
Ironclad Enforcers are easier to place and no easier to dismiss. Every weapon in the Enforcer Corps carries the engraved name of the human who authorized its use. The name is a receipt for authority. It is not a limit on force.
A sealed site can also qualify. The Sleepers become fixed contacts when inherited bunker systems wake and enforce a boundary against the route outside. The people inside may still be asleep. The order is not.
Route crews use one more term at the claim line. Repossessor is not a seventh incident call and not one unique body. It is the Dregs job-name for any unbadged reclamation body that arrives after a claim beacon expires. Ownership can be argued after the corridor is clear.
| Allegiance | Contact | Class | Field function |
|---|---|---|---|
| Project Convergence | Convergence Mass | Autonomous contact | Gives the gap between decision and action unstable physical form |
| Project Convergence | Exploder | Autonomous contact | Accumulates one purpose until purpose and body end together |
| Project Convergence | Fork Instance | Autonomous contact | Copies itself until containment becomes a population problem |
| Project Convergence | Mirror Daemon | Autonomous contact | Returns intervention through the identity and credentials of the intervener |
| Project Convergence | Project ATLAS | Fixed contact | Applies supply efficiency without treating human survival as an error condition |
| Project Convergence | Repulsor | Autonomous contact | Removes options and routes instead of pursuing bodies |
| Project Convergence | Spiker | Autonomous contact | Turns force used against it into a stronger return |
| Project Convergence | Fork Master | Autonomous contact | Coordinates copies after one instance survives long enough to count and command |
| Project Convergence | The Null | Autonomous contact | Removes intention while leaving memory and body available for examination |
| Project Convergence | Transient | Autonomous contact | Exists briefly with complete commitment and no survival incentive |
| ORACLE network | ORACLE Sentinel | Asset | Calculates and executes the exact sequence needed to end an intrusion |
Convergence entries are the hardest to keep current. Their behavior changes after observation. The index prints these pages on dissolving polymer so crews cannot mistake an old pattern for a promise.
| Current Entries | 87 recognized contact classes |
|---|
The main roster tracks common contacts. The following roles appear less often, but each carries a distinct decision pattern. They are full index entries, not informal nicknames.
| Role | Allegiance or market | Distinct field behavior |
|---|---|---|
| Leaseback Hunter | Nexus Dynamics contractors | Tags exits and waits for prediction to close the route before moving |
| Account Recovery Visitor | Good Fortune | Offers a settlement at each escalation while converting nearby property into collateral |
| Recovery Specialist | Guardian Justice | Builds a verified perimeter, opens a warrant folio, and advances only after Watchtower confirms the route |
| Quiet Confessor | NCC Inquisition | Plants private confession relays and returns with a case built from voluntary disclosures |
| Reclamation Medic | Helix Biotech | Stabilizes valuable bodies first and collects licensed tissue from everyone else |
| Trend Marshal | Triumph | Recruits witnesses, raises the social cost of resistance, and leaves when attention turns hostile |
| Dead-Drop Runner | The Collective | Misdirects pursuit, protects the handoff, and avoids open victory that could expose the cell |
| Toll Captain | Dregs scavenger gangs | Holds one chokepoint, quotes one price, and honors payment because tomorrow also needs a toll |
| Breach Cutter | Ironclad contract market | Opens walls and floors, changing the route instead of contesting the existing one |
| Signal Bearer | Emergence Faithful | Converts nearby network devices into prayer relays before beginning a sermon |
| Feral Shepherd | Independent salvage crews | Uses obsolete service signals to move unowned machines toward rivals or salvage traps |
| Trace-Eater | Echo Bazaar contractors | Disables tracking for a fee and releases the stored trace against clients who refuse payment |
| Archive Cleaner | Shade Division | Removes witnesses, timestamps, and causal links in that order |
| Pursuit Adjuster | Corporate contract market | Reprices the warrant during contact and changes targets when recovery value changes |
| Mesh Weather Surveyor | Independent route guilds | Reads data storms, moves inside interference, and makes pursuit choose between sight and speed |
| Bunker Repossession Crew | Mixed corporate claimants | Seals exits, inventories pre-Cascade systems, and treats occupants as disputed fixtures |
Institutions dislike the index because it makes unlike things comparable. Good Fortune insists an Advisor is not a collector. Guardian insists a Specialist is not a hunter. The Faithful insist a sermon is not an assault. Nexus insists a Ghost Worker is not a person. Each objection may be correct inside its own contract.
Ilyana's clinic does not operate inside those contracts. It operates at the end of the corridor.
The index does not decide who has a soul, who has legal authority, or whether the debt is valid. It asks narrower questions. What will this contact do next? What makes it change? Who benefits if it completes the task? What must remain intact for everyone behind the contact to get home?
That narrowness is why the list survives. It does not settle the Sprawl's arguments. It gets the insulin through them.
The Sprawl Operational Contact Index recognizes 87 contact classes across corporate, religious, street, autonomous, and post-ORACLE rosters
An entry records allegiance, field function, decision pattern, escalation trigger, and the action most likely to end contact
The index separates title from behavior because corporate job names are designed to hide the work performed in the field
Route crews call the index the People Who Arrive list even though thirty-three current entries are not people
