Section 12.3 is the operative clause of the Transparency Bargain â the line drafted by Nexus, ratified by the Sprawl's nominal governance, that turns continuous ambient telemetry from a thing the citizen permits into a thing the citizen has already permitted by virtue of being a citizen. Nexus's marketing language frames it as a public-trust formality, a seal of good standing, a continuous acknowledgment renewed on every session. The marketing language is sincere. The framing is operational. There is no opt-out path that preserves the citizen's legibility to the systems that grant healthcare, employment verification, housing access, and legal identity. The opt-out path leads to graceful degradation, which is Nexus's term for the state of being administratively unreachable by the institutions that determine whether a person exists.
The lock-screen envelope graphic appears at the start of every Nexus-spec terminal session: a Nexus-Blue hexagonal frame containing a smaller solid hex with a thin cyan acknowledgment bar pulsing across the lower interior. The citizen taps Acknowledge. The compliance ledger ticks up. The session begins. There is no Decline button in the visible interface; the path to declining requires three menus and ends at a Sovereign-tier disclosure page that explains the consequences of disconnection in language the Citizen-tier interface cannot parse. The brand earnestly understands this as a *disclosure framework*, not a *coercion framework*, because Nexus drafted both definitions.
Packaging & Appearance
Section 12.3 has no physical packaging. Its canonical render is the consent envelope graphic on the lock screen of a Nexus-spec terminal: a Nexus-Blue pointy-top hexagonal frame, a smaller solid Nexus-Blue hex centered inside (the sealed envelope), and a thin cyan acknowledgment bar across the lower interior between the inner hex and the outer frame. The recessed Acknowledge button sits at thumb height. The compliance-ledger counter ticks once when the citizen confirms and once again on every transaction during the session. Blue lattice glow ambient on the bezel. The screen is the package; the seal is the product.
