Angel of the Abyss

Martial Arts Combatant

Throw the strikes in the right order. Remember what you can do.

You are Angel โ€” the last master of a slaughtered martial lineage, standing between strangers and the harm already moving toward them. Every card you hold is a strike, and the order you throw them in IS the fight. Flow same-style blows to hit harder, then watch a sequence you threw on instinct burst into a combo you'd never landed before.

Most operators ask which card to play. Angel asks in what order. Every strike has a class โ€” Punch, Kick, Guard โ€” and a name. Same-class blows chain a bonus you can read right off the card, so a clean rush always hits harder. There are no dead hands: route well and you're rewarded, every single turn.

But under that visible floor hides a secret. Specific move strings โ€” Jab โ†’ Cross โ†’ Hook and rarer โ€” are signature combos you discover by throwing them. No combo list is shown. Each one you land bursts for bonus damage and climbs your Hierarchy of Forms, drawing cards and fueling longer turns โ€” until the deepest form, the Abyss, asks for your own blood.

THE DEFINING MECHANIC

Combo Chains

Every card is a strike with a class and a move. Same-class strikes flow a visible chain bonus โ€” the always-on floor. Hidden inside your moves are signature combos: specific strings that add a burst of damage and raise your form. Damage is purely additive, escalating as you stack combos across the turn.

THE SNOWBALL

You route a punch rush for fat chain bonuses, then break it to spell a hidden combo โ€” it bursts, climbs you to Still Point, and draws a card. That card completes a second combo, reaching Closed Hand for +1 Bandwidth. The turn builds itself.

SCATTERED STRIKES

You throw off-class blows in no order. The floor still pays โ€” you deal honest, lightly escalating damage, never a zero turn โ€” but you flow no chains, spell no combos, and never climb a single form. All the burst sits unclaimed.

THE PAYOFF

Climb the Forms โ€” Then Refuse the Last One

Each combo this turn raises your form a rung โ€” Open Hand to Still Point to Closed Hand โ€” and every rung past the first costs the man: temporary Exhaustion clogs your draw, and at the rare Abyss, your own Integrity.

The strongest line is the one that can also end you. Climb only when you must.

WHY ANGEL

The only operator who discovers his own kit mid-fight

vs. Keeper

Keeper reads the enemy's future and pre-sets traps across many turns. Angel performs this turn's hand โ€” route the classes, spell the combos, and discover what your moves secretly do. Plan the future vs. perform and remember.

vs. GG

GG is pure velocity โ€” play many cards fast to ramp a Momentum multiplier. Angel is precision sequencing โ€” order a smaller hand to flow chains and land hidden combos. Fewer cards played carefully, not more cards played faster.

If you loved learning a fighting game's secret move list โ€” Street Fighter, Tekken, Devil May Cry โ€” every rare card you draft is a fresh combo to uncover.

WAYS TO PLAY

Three ways to fight

Every card and skill node serves one of three locked build archetypes.

Relentless Flow

Optimize the visible floor โ€” keep same-class strikes chaining and hit like a truck.

Steady, escalating output with no combo required โ€” the high-floor, low-variance brawler.

Form Ascendant

Optimize the hidden ceiling โ€” land and discover combos to climb the forms for tempo.

Multiple bursts plus the cards and Bandwidth the forms hand you โ€” and the Abyss gamble.

The Protector

Turn Guard into a defense-offense hybrid โ€” flow Firewall, then return to damage.

Reliable Firewall woven into the same routing that drives offense โ€” Angelโ€™s core lore identity.

EASY TO FEEL

The chain bonus is printed right on the card โ€” a Cross after a Punch just hits harder. From turn one you're rewarded for routing, and a bad hand still escalates honestly. No combo knowledge required to feel productive.

HARD TO MASTER

Mastery means reading every hand on two axes at once โ€” classes for chains, moves for hidden combos โ€” routing several combos into one escalating turn, and judging exactly when the Abyss is worth your blood.

THE OPERATIVE

The last master

Angel is the sole survivor of a martial lineage destroyed not by invasion but by its own hospitality โ€” a patient enemy welcomed in and never recognized until too late. He trains in the Sanctuary, descends into the Dregs to stand between strangers and harm, and records every strike combination he discovers in his Chronicle.
