Overview
Wholesome Organic is the premium organic line — produce, dairy, grains, prepared goods — visually distinguished from the standard Wholesome lines by harvest-gold edging on the kraft-paper banding and a certified-organic sub-seal nested inside the seven-pointed family seal. The margin uplift averages 38% over the equivalent standard Wholesome SKU. The Wholesome Organic produce ships from the same controlled-environment domes adjacent to The Greenhaus as the standard Wholesome Markets produce; the prepared goods come from the same Wholesome Food Production facilities; the dairy substitutes come from the same Wholesome Labs synthetic protein lines. Production is identical. The certification is the difference. The certification is internal.
When this was raised in a Sprawl Commerce Committee hearing in 2178, Wholesome's legal team pointed out that no regulatory body has jurisdiction over the word "organic" in a post-Cascade food system where the concept of "organic" has no enforceable legal definition. The committee moved on. Wholesome Organic continues to ship the certification seal — the certified-organic sub-seal nested inside the family seven-pointed seal, harvest-gold edging on the kraft banding — and the customers continue to pay the premium because the certification looks like the certifications they remember from before the Cascade. The certifications they remember from before the Cascade are gone. The certification on the Wholesome Organic banding is the certification that remains.
Packaging & Appearance
Wholesome Organic packaging is canonically the Wholesome family banding with harvest-gold edging on every kraft-paper-and-red-wax seal — the gold edging is the only mechanical signal that the SKU is in the Organic tier. The certified-organic sub-seal nests inside the central seven-pointed seal on every label. Hand-feel cursive 'Wholesome Organic' wordmark beneath. The packaging photographs as the higher shelf in a Wholesome Markets aisle: lantern-amber side light catches the gold edging, garden-green produce sits in deep barn-red crates, the cursive certified-organic label hangs above the row.
Ingredients
Wholesome Organic SKUs vary by product. Each SKU carries its own ingredient panel on the back of the label. *Common to all SKUs: Wholesome heritage-formulation produce, dairy, and grain components (production identical to standard SKU equivalents). Wholesome internal certified-organic standard certifications (proprietary; criteria documented internally; no regulatory equivalent). Caramel color (Wholesome heritage formulation, Pantone-matched to the 1847 brand standard). Harvest-gold-edged kraft-paper-and-red-wax banding (premium-tier visual signal). Generative certified-organic narrative layer (the grandmother-insisted-on-the-certified-jar story, retuned semi-annually).
