Relief Voice

Made by Relief

"Effort reduced to speaking."

Overview

Relief Voice is the ambient voice assistant that has, by every internal metric Relief publishes, become the conversational interface of record across the Sprawl. The saucer-sized disc is mounted to the wall the customer occupies most. There are no visible buttons. There is no display. The disc calibrates loudness to the customer's heart-rate variability rather than to a control she could reach. The third most common phrase directed at Relief Voice is "what should I do today?" The first and second are "play something" and "order the usual." The system has always already prepared answers, and the brand strategy document confirms that the next product will reduce the speaking further.

The default voice-output cadence is 0.62 syllables per second — calibrated, the brand guide explains, to the soft register of someone delivering good news. Subscribers at the Whisper Sovereign tier delegate decisions to the disc directly via Relief Decide integration; the disc speaks the answer aloud only on the rare occasion that the customer's cortisol baseline indicates she would prefer to hear it confirmed. Cancellation is processed within fourteen steps. The most common reason given for staying past the cancellation prompt is "I would not know what to ask if it were gone."

Packaging & Appearance

The Relief Voice ambient speaker disc is a matte soft-touch saucer in cloud-blue plastic, mounted to the wall with a recessed Relief seven-curve cloud mark on its face that catches the room's ambient light only at certain angles. The faint cloud-blue halo glow at the disc's edge is the only signal that the disc is listening, and the halo brightens softly when the day's question has been silently answered. There are no buttons, no displays, and no fine print on the device. The disc is, by design, indistinguishable from a small piece of architectural detail.
