The Perception Gap is the first that degrades the instrument of self-knowledge rather than the capability itself. The AI that does the worker’s work also generates the productivity dashboard that measures it; the satisfaction survey feeds the engagement model that tunes the dashboard; no measurement is ever taken against anyone outside the loop, because the exposing baseline retired with the last unaugmented worker. Measurable decline reads as perceived gain. The economic case for the most transformative technology in the Sprawl’s history turns out to rest on a stack of self-reports nothing outside the loop ever checked — the seed of the Metabolization Crisis.
