Controversy enriched: The New Divide (#21) — Voluntary Community sixth axis deepened from single paragraph to full documentation
Seed: #23 The Phyle Trap (★ 27)
Summary
When material goods become free but belonging remains scarce, humans re-tribalize around culture, taste, and ideology — producing caste systems more rigid than anything money built. This weave deepens the New Divide’s sixth axis (Voluntary Community) through five named sorting mechanisms across five voluntary communities: the Consensus Weight (Zephyria), the Gift Weight (Dregs), the Closed Table (Purist communes), the Taste Gate (Curators Guild), and the Speed Boundary (Slow Thought Movement). Each mechanism is inseparable from the belonging it produces — the sorting IS the community. The vocabulary of belonging exclusion (family, settled, tuned, in practice, at table) was documented and added to the Gradient Slang entity.

- The Phyle Trap — Maren Vasquez-Osei’s term for voluntary communities producing hierarchy through belonging
- Consensus Weight (Zephyria) — accumulated social mass of participation history
- Gift Weight (Dregs) — hierarchy through generosity and indefinite obligation
- Closed Table (Purist communes) — theological totality where disagreement = exile
- Taste Gate (Curators Guild) — aesthetic cultural conversion through apprenticeship
- Speed Boundary (Slow Thought) — neurological rhythm as phyle wall
- Belonging vocabulary — family, settled, tuned, in practice, at table
